Shaila's World

Hola everyone!
I'm Shai Shai and I recently learned how to take pictures on my mommy's phone.
Every chance I get I take a new picture of things I like and I think I'm getting pretty good at it now,
I even learned how to take video!
I hope you all enjoy my pictures from an awesome 2 year olds view.

I need to tell mommy it's time for a pedi :)
Everybody meet my Vita :)
She's my all time favorite Vita, she watches cartoons with me,
she colors with me and she also always gives me cookies, MY FAVORITE!
Everyday we hang out and I sing and dance for her, she loves my new moves.
She's a little sad that I'm moving to my grandpa's house in San Diego but since I've been playing so much with my mom's phone I learned how to call and TEXT!!

I've been taking some great pictures of everybody's feet, I have to say these are my favorite especially of my new Hello Kitty socks :)

And of course I could not forget my favorite Grinchy.
I absolutely love him, he goes everywhere with me.
Mommy isn't a big fan of his but she still let him come along on our mini vacation to my nina's house.
He loved it, he had such a good time the day we got there he slept in the next day, here's a picture of him being lazy :)

And here's a picture of my Nina's other house, I had so much fun.
Especially since they let me color all day and bought me popcorn!
I pretty much ruled the house since Nina isn't a baby anymore her mommy played with me more.
I have to go visit again soon, because I already miss watching movies with them.

Here's a picture of vita again, while she's watching her favorite novelas lol
And last.. the world premiere of my first toddler video, hope you guys enjoyed my post and I will sneaking more pictures & videos onto my mom's phone cause I know she really loves finding my new creations :)

Bye everyone,
Beshos

Our getaway

This past week Shaila and I went to Bakersfield, CA to visit my best friend and her family's new home. It was a two hour ride in which Shaila fell asleep for most of it, when we got there we just had to stop at our favorite fast food place, SONIC!
Shaila absolutely loved the tater tots :)

While we were visiting, Shaila caught a 24 hour bug.
So on that day we stayed in and watch old Disney movies on VHS, we saw The beauty & the beast, 101 Dalmatians, The parent trap, Casper & The nightmare before Christmas.
Even though Shaila could not have her favorite popcorn she did enjoy a bit of Gelato.

After that she was back to her normal self
We colored, baked & pumpkin patched (pictures on future blog).
Shaila really enjoyed visiting, especially cause of all the attention my best friend's mom gives her :)
Next time I can not forget her playpen, because she is one crazy sleeper.

Shaila had some long needed Nina bonding time.
She even learned how to do a taco with her tongue :)
All in all we had a great time, got to relax and escape the craziness of the big city.

This was our view everyday we woke, so beautiful and peaceful.
We can  not wait to be able to visit again.

Stay tuned for a new blog coming soon
Through Shaila's eyes.
Recently Shaila has learned how to take pictures and videos with my phone so
I will be posting the pictures and videos soon :)
xoxo

Park Days

A day at the park is just what Shaila has been needing.
I haven't been feeling well but Shaila has been running around the house in circles driving us all crazy, so it was a perfect day to take her out to play on the playground.
We went to a park near by called Wells Park in El Cajon, she had a great time running around and going down the slide and seeing the dogs play in the dog park next to the playground.
Hopefully on Sunday I can take her to a park with ducks, they are her favorite.

Can you tell she had a blast?

Got her as tired as possible, that as soon as she got home she ate, showered and went to bed :)

Happy Thursday everyone :)

Never too early for Halloween!

For us busy Mommy's Halloween starts at the beginning of the month.
From planning costume ideas, setting up decorations, planning trick or treat events, taking the kids to the local pumpkin patch, carving the pumpkins and of course buying or making yummy treats.

This year I plan on having Shaila help me decorate Halloween sugar cookies :)
I'm not sure if this is a great idea yet, since she is very messy but I'm going to try!
This year I think I got carried away, Shaila has 3 Halloween costumes.. Here is a sneak preview of one.

Can you guess??
I'm pretty crafty,  just not at the point to make her a costume yet..maybe next year.
I am gonna make popcorn balls for her  & her cousins...I made them for Shaila's birthday and they seemed to be a good idea so this time I am gonna add chocolates, and different colors.

 Popcorn Balls

Here's the recipe
These are pink but you can add any other food color, or ingredient like pretzels, different cereals, chocolate pieces, sprinkles or chocolate drizzle. Try it & let me know if you like them.

PUMPKINS!
I really want to carve a pumpkin for Shaila but painting it might be a better idea
Since we are in San Diego now I need to find her a cute pumpkin patch to go a take her pictures.
I hope she's not so afraid the day of because recently she's been very afraid of masks, I will keep you all updated. I know she is gonna LOVE the dressing up part and of course getting candy!

Here's a Video of her tonight..my sister taught her a few new words.

She was surrounded by all of her close friends & family, At her mommy and me party the kids got to enjoy her activity table, castle jumper, bubble machine (was a BIG hit) & of course the cotton candy machine and we can't forget all the yummy candy & treats.

Her big bow cake

Her favorite is popcorn & ice cream :)

Playing with her friend Sofia :)

As months go by..

 I'm a big girl now...

These past couple of months have flown by, I am a few weeks away from finishing my spring semester and I have enjoyed my baking class sooo much. Shaila on the other hand has gained a few pounds and started daycare with Clemy <3 She's is the absolute BEST babysitter! She is the sweetest lady who has opened up her doors for Shaila and me. Shaila Adores her, and to make things even better Shaila's cousin Rian has also joined the daycare too. Tiffany a friend of mine recommended her to me and Shaila, since her son Isaac has been going to Clemy for years now, at first Shaila was a bit of a bully hitting the other kids and not wanting to nap but she is doing so much better and she enjoys going to play with her new BEST friends!

Shaila has been on so many different adventures these past couple of months, we took a trip down to the Long Beach aquarium where she got to feed the birds and touch the jelly fish and also saw a shark!

Shaila is so independent now she eats by herself with a spoon and also tried to put her shoes on, she says teeth when she wants to brush her teeth and grandma says she's also trying to start to go potty in the restroom now.

Shaila at 18 months
Her grandpa taught her how to fly a kite and she LOVES blowing bubbles and writing on the sidewalk with chalk. She loves taking walks and running around in the grass while she chases Nikki (our chihuahua) back and forth.
At 18 months I decided to cut Shaila's bangs, on my own! I think I did a good job for it being my first time and Shaila did a great job at cooperating and she loves her new girly look! I kept her hair as a keepsake for Shaila to have when she's older :)
For our spring break me and Shaila went to visit her grandpa and cousins in San Diego, we had such a great time hanging out with the family and spending time playing with her cousins Alyssa, Lily, Bianka & her new baby cousins The JR.  They got to spend a day playing together at play town, she loves them sooo much and looks forward to seeing them and getting to play with them. We made the decision of moving to San Diego in May after my semester is over for a fresh new start, I will continue my school there and find a job so we could get our own place and Shaila could have her own room now :) i'll keep you guys updated on the move!

After we came back from San Diego we celebrated Shaila's 2nd Easter Sunday at the park with her Nina Elle and her family. Shaila woke up to see the easter bunny left her 2 easter baskets, she got to wear a new fluffy pink dress and her easter bunny ears! At the park she played with bubbles and playing ball with danny and allison, she also had a taste from everyone's ice cream and her new favorite candy are jelly beans. She also posed for pictures for her nina's camera (pictures to follow) We ended off the night by going to church with grandma, grandpa and vita and she got a puzzle from her church teachers :)

Uncle Adrian calls her Chuckie :)
These past few months have been great Shaila is so healthy and smart she talks so much now she says Agua, No, Si, Thank you and Nina ;) These next few weeks in LA will be so much fun and also very sad to leave behind but I know it is the best thing for us. She will have an amazing life where ever we go, I will always do my best to keep my baby girl happy and proud!

Baby blues & Braided bread

So guess who threw their shoe in the toilet today?... Yes Shaila did!!
But I can not help but laugh because it seems like when my days are the toughest Shai always seems to add the cherry on top. My car broke down today for good (I think), but that is okay I have bigger things to worry about like..DAYCARE! What a nightmare it has been to find a nice, cute child care. I say cute because I would not wanna go myself if they did not do cute things like paint and sing! So after I find this cute daycare I have to take Shaila to her physical and that is not something I look forward to since she's all of a sudden terrified of Dr.Wong. He's a very nice man but i guess he does talk a lot a very fast so I don't blame her, she also seems to get a shot after every visit with him. So we will see how things go with that, as for Shaila she's been doing a lot of

dancing which is starting to make me think of dance classes for her :) or ballet..well maybe just tumbling for now she's not that great with listening to directions yet lol ( thats why their was a shoe in the toliet). I enjoy seeing all the things she does now since I am in school most of the week I now feel like I miss out on the things she does. She now knows where her hands are and she tries to say thank you and I love you, and she LOVES playing peek a boo. She's become so attached to me she hates for me to leave her anywhere which is now a big problem because she doesn't even like to go play with her friends at church. I hope day care helps minimize her anxiety because she sometimes gets a little resentful with me leaving her. Well as for my baking, we made a braided loaf of bread last night in class. It was a 5 braid loaf, it was a little difficult to braid but my class mates did a good job, I was only good at rolling out the strands for the braids. I am really enjoying my class and I am really learning a lot from this class, even though it had more math than I expected. Im sure everyone at my house is enjoying my class too since they get freshly baked bread every thursday now. :) Here's a picture of my bread and let me know if any of you want the recipe and the directions on how to braid the bread because their are more than one.

1st Project

Egg Bread
I wanted to come on here and show my first project we made in my baking class last night.
We started the spring semester three weeks ago and finally we were actually able to make something. The bread was more difficult to make than it seems, you have to control the yeast and make sure not to add to much water and control the times in the proofer for it to ferment right. I never imagined bread to be so difficult and such a long process but at the end it was worth it because it was very good. The bread had a nice color to it and was moist with a very good taste to it. I have to keep practicing rolling the dough into balls because it was the hardest thing for me to get used to. I'm really happy that I'm finally doing what I am good at this is such a big step for me and Shaila (who is now 17 months). Although it has been a hard transition for both of us since we were so used to always being together everyday, but she enjoys playing and dancing with her new friend at the baby sitter house so she is doing a lot better now. At first she cried and cried and would throw herself on the floor after seeing me come home late because she would remember i left her behind, but she's better now so I don't feel as guilty. :) As for my class I am actually doing very well, I am understanding most of the lectures and I am enjoying learning how to make things from scratch and the process it takes to make something so simple like bread.

Here is the recipe for Egg Bread for those of you who want to try to make it at home :)

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, divided
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 5 whole eggs, dyed if desired
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine 1 cup flour, sugar, salt and yeast; stir well. Combine milk and butter in a small saucepan; heat until milk is warm and butter is softened but not melted.
  2. Gradually add the milk and butter to the flour mixture; stirring constantly. Add two eggs and 1/2 cup flour; beat well. Add the remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, stirring well after each addition. When the dough has pulled together, turn it out onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 8 minutes.
  3. Lightly oil a large bowl, place the dough in the bowl and turn to coat with oil. Cover with a damp cloth and let rise in a warm place until doubled in volume, about 1 hour.
  4. Deflate the dough and turn it out onto a lightly floured surface. Divide the dough into two equal size rounds; cover and let rest for 10 minutes. Roll each round into a long roll about 36 inches long and 1 1/2 inches thick. Using the two long pieces of dough, form a loosely braided ring, leaving spaces for the five colored eggs. Seal the ends of the ring together and use your fingers to slide the eggs between the braids of dough.
  5. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Place loaf on a buttered baking sheet and cover loosely with a damp towel. Place loaf in a warm place and let rise until doubled in bulk, about 45 minutes. Brush risen loaf with melted butter.
  6. Bake in preheated oven for 50 to 55 minutes, or until golden.
